Greece: Superstar's second try

During a prime-time live show from Athens, Greece picked the song This Is Our Night to be performed by Sakis Rouvas at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. The star of the night, Sakis Rouvas, was already chosen internally by the Greek broadcaster ERT last summer.

This Is Our Night impressed televoters at home as well as the professional jury. The jury support from international Eurovision Song Contest fans, as one of the jury members represented the vote of the subscribed members of the independent fan website Esctoday.com. According to the site, a bit over 61% of their members' votes went to This Is Our Night. You can see why, below.

    

Greece relies on the superstar

Sakis Rouvas, who represented Greece in 2004 with Shake It - he finished third! - and hosted the contest in Athens in 2006, will make a come-back to the Eurovision Song Contest stage in 2009. The singer, originially from Corfu, is active in the Greek and Cypriot music business since 1991, and launched over a dozen successful albums. Over the past 17 years, he sold an estimated two million albums. This year, the popular singer will return to the international stage as Greece relies on him to bring back the contest to Hellenic soil.
