Germany: Unser Song für Dänemark to take place in Cologne

06 September 2013 at 17:04 CEST

The successful Unser Song für format is to continue in 2014 where Germany will select its entry for Copenhagen.

The show will take place at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne on the 13th of March at 20:15 CET with tickets available for €19.90, €27.90 and €36.90. These can be purchased now on the Unser Song für Dänemark website.

"A more glamourous venue"

Jan Feddersen who blogs for the official German Eurovision Song Contest website for broadcaster NDR, Eurovision.de, appeared happy with the choice of Cologne as host city:

"Cologne is the city where the annual Eurovision fan meeting takes place at the Gloria Theatre; it is the centre of the gay community in Germany and in addition to that there is the Lanxess-Arena on the Deutzer side of the city. It is located opposite the Central Station, is larger, fuller and more glamourous than the majority of halls here in Germany. A bigger audience most likely also means: more atmosphere in the actual arena", he said.

More details to be released at a later date

The national final show is an NDR-production in partnership with Brainpool who incidentally helped to produce the Eurovision Song Contest in both 2011 in Düsseldorf and 2012 in Baku.

Further details about the concept for next year's show will be released by NDR in due course.

As Germany is one of the so-called "Big 6" countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and the host country, Denmark), the winner of Unser Song für Dänemark will compete in the Grand Final of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest on the 10th of May to be held at the B&W-Hallerne on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen.
