Germany selects internally this year

NDR asks professional singers, composers and authors to send in their songs. They have to have success in official music charts and have to be members of the GEMA.  The deadline for that is the 22nd of January.

Out of the submitted entries a jury, which is still yet to be composed, will choose the German representative.

Thomas Schreiber, ARD Entertainment coordinator said this year would be an exception due to miserable German results of last years but it won't become a tradition.

Germany is part of the so-called Big Four and thus passes directly to the final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.
