Barbara Pravi will represent France at Eurovision 2021
Barbara Pravi won the French national selection and will now go on to represent her country with 'Voilà'.

France's national selection Eurovision France: C'est Vous Qui Décidez (Eurovision France: You Decide) was broadcast live from Paris. Barbara Pravi was chosen out of 12 participants after she received the most votes from the audience and jury.

About Barbara Pravi

Barbara Pravi is a French singer-songwriter with Serbian and Iranian roots. The 27-year-old is no stranger to the Eurovision Song Contest, or actually, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest to be more specific. She co-wrote the two most recent French entries for Junior Eurovision, Bim Bam Toi, which was performed by Carla, and J’imagine, performed by Valentina which won the contest in November 2020.

Barbara has also written for famous French singers like Yannick Noah and Chimène Badi. Her song Voilà is an introduction to herself, an artist who has remained in the shadows for a long time, revealing her emotions and taking inspiration from the chanson française genre and singers like Jacques Brel and Piaf.

The French national final

This year, France opted for a new concept and a new name for their national selection. Their internal selection process gave the following 12 acts a chance to compete in the Final:

  • LMK - Magique
  • Ali - Paris Me Dit
  • Casanova - Tutti
  • Barbara Pravi - Voilà
  • Cephaz - On A Mangé Le Soleil
  • Amui - Maeva
  • Andriamad - Alléluia
  • Philippine - Bah Non
  • Juliette Moraine - Pourvu Qu'on M'Aime
  • 21 Juin Le Duo - Peux-Tu Me Dire?
  • Terence James - Je T'Emmènerai Danser
  • Pony X - Amour Fou

The show consisted of 2 rounds. In the first round, the top 7 songs that received the most televotes qualified to the next stage. Then, one of the songs that didn't make it through the first round, LMK, was selected by the jury to join them. The 8 finalists then competed in a second round of voting, where votes from the audience and the juries both accounted for 50%. Barbara Pravi was the winner of this final voting.

The show was hosted by Stéphane Bern and Laurence Boccolini and the jury was filled with Eurovision stars. It's president was France's 2016 artist Amir and it also included fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, Eurovision winners Marie Myriam and Duncan Laurence as well as former participants such as Natasha St-Pier (2001).

As a member of the Big 5, France will automatically qualify for the Grand Final in Eurovision 2021 and we look forward to seeing Barbara Pravi perform for France on Saturday 22 May!
