France brings the public selection back

12 November 2013 at 15:01 CET

The selection of the artist that will represent France at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest Final in Copenhagen on the 10th of May will be made in several steps:

- At the end of this month a "listening committee" composed of 14 people will meet. The jury will be made up of music industry professionals, representatives of France Télévisions and their partner France Bleu. As a public representation they will be joined this year by a viewer and a Eurovision fan. Their task is to select the best three entries among those proposed from record labels, publishers and producers.

- On Sunday the 26th of January at 17:00 CET, Natasha St-Pier will feature a special edition of her Sunday show Les Chansons D'Abord dedicated to the Eurovision Song Contest. The three songs selected by the committee will be presented and voted on by the viewers and a panel of professionals, each accounting for 50% of the total vote.

- Recaps of the participating songs to appeal for the vote will be broadcast daily on France 3 and france3.fr for four weeks starting from the 26th of January and ending on the 23rd of February.

- The winner will be revealed on France 3 by Natasha St-Pier in Les Chansons D'Abord on Sunday the 2nd of March 2014 at 17:00 CET.

Natasha St-Pier placed 4th representing France at the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest, coincidentally in Copenhagen. She will also join Cyril Féraud at the commentary booth in Copenhagen for the Final of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.
