Special guest of the French Athletic Federation, Amaury Vassili sang two songs of his latest album and La Marseillaise during the opening ceremony of the 31st European Athletics Indoors Championships organized in the Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy (which takes place 4-6 March 2011). Furthermore, officially introduced as representing France at next Eurovision Song Contest, Amaury got standing ovation from all the delegations participating in this international sport event.
The 21-year-old tenor Amaury Vassili has already released two albums in France called Vincero and Cantero with which he sold more than 250000 copies.
The Eurovision Song Contest track Sognu was written especially for Amaury by Jean-Pierre Marcellesi and Julie Miller in Corsican, with music by Daniel Moyne and Quentin Bachelet. The song itself is built up like a bolero with a dramatic finish at the end.
