Former Eurovision winner back in the game?
24 January 2008 at 04:04 CETAccording to inside sources, former Eurovision Song Contest winner Charlotte Nilsson (now Charlotte Perrelli) is making a return to the glamourous event with the song Hero, written by Melodifestivalen veteran Bobby Ljunggren, together with Fredrik Kempe.
Charlotte hopes to repeat her success from 1999 when she won that year's Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem with Take Me To Your Heaven. She might face tough competition though from the highly popular synth-pop band BWO, which came second in the Swedish national selection in 2006 and who will now perform Lay Your Love On Me according to the latest media rumours.
Another hotly tipped candidate is Ola Svensson, who's currently leading the Swedish single charts. Love In Stereo is said to be his entry for Melodifestivalen 2008. The Swedish event might also see the fan favourite Linda Bengtzing coming back, as well as the rock group The Poodles, in a unique combination with the eurodance star E-type.
Apart from the 28 names which Sveriges Television (SVT) will announce on Tuesday, four more lucky ones will receive a wild card from the broadcaster. These four names will be announced at the end of December.
The Swedish national final will take place on the 15th of March in Stockholm's Globen Arena, which will be preceded by a string of semi-finals starting in February.
