Finland: Norma John wins UMK 2017!28 January 2017 at 23:04 CET
Minutes ago Finland chose its song for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in the UMK final at the Espoo Metro Areena. The UMK 2017 winner, Norma John, will go on to represent Finland at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with the song Blackbird.
Norma John - Blackbird
Two longtime friends Leena and Lasse form an indie pop duo by the name of Norma John. Their music has a strong cinematic feel and it oozes harsh Scandinavian beauty. “We really needed to take the next step with our music and UMK feels like the right forum to take that step.” Norma John’s stunningly beautiful Blackbird is all about splitting up and about the way you feel when every single thing reminds you of the past.
The ten contestants performed in the following order (winner in bold):
- Emma - Circle Of Light
- Alva - Arrows
- Günther & D'Sanz - Love Yourself
- Anni Saikku - Reach Out For The Sun
- Knucklebone Oscar & The Shangri-La Rubies - Caveman
- Norma John - Blackbird
- Lauri Yrjölä - Helppo elämä
- Club La Persé - My Little World
- Zühlke - Perfect Villain
- My First Band - Paradise
The results were determined by the votes of the Finnish audience (50%) and a total of ten international juries (50%) from Estonia, France, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
