Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat win ticket to Oslo!

It was showdown time in Tampere tonight: 10 artists fought for the honour of representing their native country Finland in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. Hosted by Jaana Pelkonen and Mikko "Peltsi" Peltola, the Finnish nation had a difficult choice in Eurovision Laulukilpailu to choose from 10 different offers - but it was ultimately Kuunkuiskaajat who managed to charm the televoting audience most! They will now perform their song Työlki Ellää in one of the two Semi-Finals of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.

The Finnish final consisted of two round of voting tonight. In the first round of voting, the participants were the following:

  • Maria Lund - Sydän Ymmärtää
  •  Antti Kleemola - Sun Puolella
  • Linn - Fatal Moment
  • Pentti Hietanen - Il Mondo È Quì
  • Heli Kajo -  Annankadun Kulmassa
  • Nina Lassander - Cider Hill
  • Amadeus - Anastacia
  • Sister Twister - Love At The First Sight
  • Eläkeläiset -  Hulluna Humpasta
  • Kuunkuiskaajat - Työlki Ellää

After a first round of voting, a so-called super-final was introduced featuring the three acts that received the highest number of sms- and televotes in the first round (winner in bold):

  • Nina Lassander - Cider Hill  2nd
  • Eläkeläiset -  Hulluna Humpasta  3rd
  • Kuunkuiskaajat - Työlki Ellää  1st

Finland has been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1961 and it took the country 45 years till its first victory when Lordi won Europe's favourite TV-show in Athens in 2006. Since then, Finland has managed to reach the final of the Eurovision Song Contest every time though last year Waldo's People's Lose Control only manage to come 25th.
