Executive Producer appointed for Eurovision 2014

This will be 47 year old Pernille Gaardbo, who has been working at DR for 17 years - the last 12 years at the helm of DR Medieservice, which is DR's largest production department with 220 staff.

Experienced leader with technical insight

Pernille Gaardbo is a qualified TV producer and was orginally employed as a producer. Whilst in charge of DR Medieservice, she has had overarching responsibility for the organisation of the technical production for DR's biggest entertainment shows including the Danish national selection, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and X-Factor.

"By choosing Penille Gaardbo, we have a person who has all the necessary leadership skills, which are essential in order to run a project of this magnitude, and the techical insight for such a large TV-production, which the Eurovision Song Contest is", says DR's Director General Maria Rørbye Rønn".

The Ultimate Dream

Pernille Gaardbo is more than excited about her new role:

"To be able to organise the Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark means the realisation of the ultimate dream for someone with my background", she says.

"At DR we have never been more ready to take on such a task. We have systematically worked on optimising our production processes during the past few years so we are properly geared up to take on a production of this enormous size, which the Eurovision Song Contest is", she went on to say.

Two further key people in place

Also part of the team that is responsible for planning and producing the Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark in 2014 is Head of Entertainment Jan Lagermand Lundme and the Head of DR Event, Søren Therkelsen.

Both have extensive experience at DR producing entertainment shows including Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Jan Lagermand Lundme will be responsible for content whilst Søren Therkelsen will be responsible for partnership relations.

The dates for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest have premliminary been set for the 13th, 15th and 17th of May next year and while no host city and venue has been announced yet, the process has already started to look for a suitable venue.
