Exclusive: Koldun's song for UNICEF

24 October 2010 at 17:22 CEST

Dmitry Koldun, who represented Belarus at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, will present a special UNICEF song A Day Without War together with all the participants of 2010 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

"My song is not about war, my song is about kids. I would like to make it appeal to all adults to protect children and do not violate their rights," said the singer.

Besides that, UNICEF gave the opportunity for young directors for a masterclass in film.

"We’ve chosen a one-minute film format, because for this little time one can express oneself very briefly, but at the same time really brightly," say project organisers.

The young directors, scriptwriters and cameramen were gathered throughout the country. The oldest participants were 18.

"Children can create and show something very natural, beautiful and true. They can do it even better than adults," says Kristina Kersa, an artist from Estonia, who have come to hand on her experience to Belarusian youth.

The children shot films on worrying topics: environment, health and education.

"I’m making a film about one-parent families. I suppose this topic is urgent all over the world. I hope that people, who’ll watch my work, won’t make those silly mistakes," said  one of the participants.

The world premiere of the best movie will take place during the 2010 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk, to be held on the 20th of November.
