Eurovision winner to become Irish president?

20 September 2011 at 13:29 CEST

Dana, who's always been one of the all-time-fan-favourites, gave Ireland their first victory in 1970, went into politics in the 1990s when she also ran for the post of the president of Ireland, finishing third.

However, she did not give up on politics and became a Member of the European Parliament in 1999. She did lose it in the next elections but now, she's once again in top politics, announcing her candidacy for the president of Ireland.

She's still also in the music business, founding her own record label in 2006 and being a judge of the The All Ireland Talent Show,  a TV-series billed as Ireland's biggest-ever talent contest.
