The Eurovision Song Contest is coming to the Swiss city of Basel in May, following Nemo's win in Sweden with their song The Code.

Ahead of the grand arrival, the Host City, along with Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR, is now on the search for 700 volunteers to help shape the world’s largest music event and contribute to the atmosphere of Basel. A variety of tasks and an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience awaits successful applicants. Anyone aged 18 and above can apply and registration opens on Thursday 16 January at 13:00 CET. The organisation of volunteer recruitment is being managed by the Swiss Volunteers platform, at swissvolunteers.ch.

Through their commitment, volunteers will help shape the welcoming spirit of Host City Basel and play a key role in making the event unforgettable for everyone.

Their tasks are varied: from assisting international delegations and welcoming fans and press, to managing visitor flows, staffing info and check-points, or handling logistical duties. Volunteering at the Eurovision Song Contest offers successful applicants not only an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at everything happening, but also the chance to be part of a unique communal experience.

Local knowledge is an advantage

The Eurovision Song Contest stands for diversity and inclusion - and the volunteer team should reflect this. Local people who can make a valuable contribution with their local knowledge are particularly welcome.

Anyone aged 18 or over at the time of application and available for at least 10 days between 1 May and 20 May 2025 can apply. Volunteers will be selected on the basis of their availability and skills, including language skills and familiarity with Basel and the surrounding area.

Volunteers can expect extensive preparation. In addition to training, they will receive food and clothing for their assignment, which they will be allowed to keep as a thank you for their help. Requirements vary according to the area of work, and an interview is held in advance for certain positions.

Partnership with Swiss Volunteers

The organisation and coordination of volunteer work in Basel is made possible through close collaboration with Swiss Volunteers – the national nonprofit organisation dedicated to promoting and valuing volunteerism. Through the Swiss Volunteers platform, volunteers can easily indicate their preferences and skills, enabling targeted deployment planning.
