Eurovision Song Contest sweeps coveted TV award04 October 2011 at 01:40 CEST
It has just been announced that the Eurovision Song Contest has won the coveted Deutscher Fernsehpreis (German TV Prize) in the category Best Entertainment at a ceremony in Cologne.
Also competing for the award was I'm A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here and Let's Dance. I
To top it all off one of the hosts of Europe's favourite TV show, Stefan Raab, won an award in the category of Best Entertainer. So all in all it was a pretty successful night for the Eurovision Song Contest in Germany!
Incidentally, the 2010 the award for Best Entertainment actually went to the German national selection shows, Unser Star für Oslo, which produced Lena and her song Satellite.
The ceremony took place last night but was first broadcast this evening, with a media blackout preventing the announcement of the winners until just now.
Collecting the prize on behalf of NDR and ARD were the three presenters of the show, Anke Engelke, Judith Rakers and Stefan Raab; Executive Producer, Thomas Schreiber; Jörg Grabosch from Brainpool TV GmbH; Stage Designer, Florian Wieder and Lighting Designer, Jerry Appelt.
