Eurovision interval acts revealed

09 May 2011 at 18:58 CEST

Europe votes, they provide the entertainment: Jan Delay and band Disko No. 1, the Cold Steel Drummers and the Flying Steps are the interval acts at the three Eurovision Song Contest 2011 shows in Düsseldorf.

They will perform during the breaks in which TV audiences and professionals all over Europe decide by telephone and SMS which participants will get through the Semi-Finals and who wins The Final of the Eurovision Song Contest

Cold Steel Drummers

The Cold Steel Drummers are twenty musicians from North Carolina (USA) who met in the university marching band. Together, the drummers impress their audience with cool beats coupled with astounding tricks and choreographies.

They achieved fame in Germany with their work with Peter Fox. They toured with him and can also be seen in his video "Alles neu". Fox's album "Stadtaffe" was number one in Germany with more than one million copies being sold. The Cold Steel Drummers will perform during the First Semi-Final on the 10th of May in the arena in Düsseldorf.

The Flying Steps

The Flying Steps from Berlin will appear during the Second Semi-Final and are one of the world's most successful "Urban Dance Crews". The athletic dancers spectacularly combine dance styles such as break dancing, hip hop and house.

The four-time break dancing world champions teamed up with artistic director Christoph Hagel as "Flying Bach" last year when they danced to Johann Sebastian Bach's piece "The Well-Tempered Clavier" in the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. The jury awarded them the special classical prize at the Echo 2010 awards. The group will take the act on a world tour in autumn.

Jan Delay

Jan Delay's enthralling passion on stage and his extraordinary voice make him a very special live act. The concerts with his current band Disko No. 1 are legendary.

In 1991, Jan Delay made the breakthrough with his band "Beginner" (at that time called "Absolute Beginners"). Since his album "Mercedes Dance", he has predominantly been going down the funk and soul route. The current album "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Soul" is Jan Delay's second no. 1 album. On the 14th of May he will rock The Final of Europe's favourite TV show.

The First Semi-Final of the international contest will be shown by ProSieben and EinsFestival on Tuesday, 10th of May at 21:00. The Second Semi-Final will be broadcast live on Das Erste on Thursday, 12th of May at 21:00. The Final will also be live on Das Erste on 14th of May, starting at 21:00.
