Seven acts who have competed in the Eurovision Song Contest will be performing this Saturday, the 31st of October at the 8th Eurovision Gala Night in the Chapito venue of Casino 2OOO in Luxembourg. They include two former winners of Europe's Favourite Tv Show; Gigliola Cinquetti and Ruslana.
Ruslana who won the contest for Ukraine back in 2004 will be joined by her four wild dancers. Gigliola Cinquetti, "the grande dame" of Italy won the contest in 1964 with her evergreen Non Ho L'età. She was only 16 years of age when she won the competition. She will perform three of her new songs as a world premiere at the event on the 31st of October.
Also in the line-up on Saturday are András Kállay-Saunders from Hungary, Sinplus from Switzerland, Nadine Beiler from Austria and Sestre from Slovenia
Last but not least, Baccara featuring María Mendiola, who represented Luxembourg back in 1978 with Parlez-Vous Français. They had number one hits in 15 countries and became famous with hits such as Yes Sir, I Can Boogie and Sorry I'm A Lady.
In addition, 18 candidates (14 soloists + 2 duets) representing 16 European nations will compete in order to carry off the 8th Eurovision Gala Night Luxembourg trophy. They will be judged by a panel of 16 international jury members, each one representing a nation. The voting system will be done in the Eurovision way (including computer graphic scoreboard). The audience will vote as well by making a donation. 16 tins will be placed where people can vote for their favourite performance. The funds collected on the night will be donated to the Red Cross.
The show will be hosted in three languages in order to respect the Eurovision tradition, and attendees are requested to dress smart/elegant. The show will start at 8.00 pm and doors will open at 7.00 pm.
The organisers have arranged free shuttle busses from the Mercure Alfa Hotel, and there will be an after show party.
There will also be a Welcome Party at the new Crossfire Bar in Luxembourg City on Friday the 30th October at 10.00pm where some of the artists will perform as well. Free entrance for everyone!
The event is organised by OGAE Luxembourg and tickets for the Eurovision Gala Night can be bought at ticket-regional www.ticket-regional.de/ogae. There are three categories (VIP, Category 2 and Category 3).
