"We came up with it during the first workshop we held. I got goosebumps when I heard it and thought straight away: This has to be our slogan", explains Jan Lagermand Lundme, DR's Head of Show.
Join us - get closer
The words Join Us will be a part of both the live shows and the many events that will take place around Denmark during the Eurovision Song Contest in May.
"In relation to the many participants, members of the press and fans that will come to Denmark for Eurovision, it's about putting our arms out and welcoming them. To say: Join the party, join the competition - join us", says Jan Lagermand Lundme.
The approximate 170 million people that are expected to watch the Eurovision Song Contest are also invited to join.
"We really want to enable the viewers to get even closer to the participants that are taking part in the competition. They will get to know them as people and get a feeling for how much it means for them to take part", as Jan Lagermand Lundme explains his vision.

Join us online
DR in partnership with the EBU also invite all of Europe to take part in the party online, via their mobiles and social media.
"We will have a special focus on social media, and what happens online this time. Of course, by having a slogan like "Join Us" we are suggesting that fans and viewers can meet each other both in real terms and online".
"We have a clear ambition that the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest shall be the most involved contest to date and for that the internet is a fantastic place", explains Jan Lagermand Lundme.
Developing a logo and graphics
Since 2002 the Eurovision Song Contest has had a slogan each year except for in Moscow in 2009. Jan Lagermand Lundme highlights Oslo 2010 as one of the best:
"NRK's slogan "Share the Moment" had something immediate about it and didn't promise more than it could deliver. One doesn't want to change the world but to bring Europe together for three evenings in order to share an experience. That is the same ambition we have", he explains.
Swedish TV had a beautiful butterfly as their logo for the Eurovision Song Contest this year. What Denmark's answer to this will in 2014, the Head of Show cannot reveal yet.
"We are working on it and have some talented people in the process of developing a logo and visual identity for the show. For me the most important thing is that we don't rush but take time to find the right one", he says.
The 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will take place on the 6th, 8th and 10th of May in Copenhagen, Denmark.
