After securing a Top 10 finish at the Grand Final in Liverpool, Estonian broadcaster ERR has unveiled the candidates in the running to represent Estonia in Malmö.

Multi-talented singer, songwriter and musician Alika did her country very proud in May, when her song Bridges landed Estonia in the Top 10 of the Grand Final scoreboard in Liverpool.

It's the Baltic nation's third Top 10 placing in the last decade, and national broadcaster ERR will no doubt be wanting to keep that momentum going in Malmö, as Estonia prepares for the short trip across the Baltic Sea to compete.

The highly regarded Eesti Laul will be returning once again as Estonia's pre-selection format in 2024. And to whet appetites for what is potentially to come, ERR has already released the titles of the 20 songs that will be competing, and the names of the artists who will be performing them.

Things will be run a little differently at Eesti Laul in 2024. There will be just one semi-final taking place on Saturday 20 January. Here, 15 songs will compete for 5 places in the final. And joining those triumphant 5 at Saturday 17 February's big final will be 5 more songs that ERR has selected as automatic qualifiers.

Details of both the semi-finalists and the automatic qualifiers have been released.

Eesti Laul 2024's 15 semi-finalists:

OLLIE – My Friend
Sofia Rubina – Be Good
Ewert and the Two Dragons – Hold Me Now
Multikas, Ewert Sundja – Oblivion
Anet Vaikmaa – Serotoniin
5MIINUST x Puuluup – (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi
YONNA – I Don’t Know About You
Silver Jusilo – Lately
INGA – No Dog On a Leash
Peter Põder – Korra Veel
Antsud – Vetevaim
Cecilia – FOMO
Traffic – Wunderbar
Ingmar – Dreaming
Laura – Here’s Where I Draw the Line

Amongst the candidates, we have a number of artists who will be familiar to anyone who has followed Eesti Laul editions in the past. Perhaps most notably, the lineup includes Laura, who has represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest as a member of Suntribe (2005) and as half of the duo Koit Toome & Laura (2017).

Eesti Laul 2024's 5 pre-qualified finalists:

Brother Apollo – Bad Boy
Daniel Levi – Over The Moon
Nele-Liis Vaiksoo – Käte ümber jää
Carlos Ukareda – Never Growing Up
Uudo Sepp & Sarah Murray – Still Love

According to ERR, the Eesti Laul 2024 songs will be broadcast for the very first time on 8 December.

Before Eesti Laul 2024 gets underway, Estonia makes its debut at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023. ARHANNA has the great honour of being the very first artist to represent Estonia at the competition, where she'll be performing her song Hoiame Kokku.

You can tune in to see how Estonia fares in Nice on Sunday 26 November.
