Broadcaster iTV and their production partners surely managed to impress their audience with a television show that reminded most of a small-scale Eurovision Song Contest. The show featured performances of 2003 winner Sertab Erener from Turkey - TRT aired the show live - and 2004 winner Ruslana from Ukraine. Last year's Eurovision Song Contest winner Marija Šerifović.
A jury of 13 members, featuring the General Director of iTV, the Deputy Director of press agency ITAR-TASS, the Rector Magnificus of the Baku Music Academy and several honoured musical artists, picked Azerbaijan's first Eurovision Song Contest entrant.
Azerbaijan has been drawn to take part in the first Semi-Final, on Tuesday the 20th of May, in Belgrade, Serbia.
