Eleni Foureira to fly the flag for Cyprus with 'Fuego'

Cypriot broadcaster CyBC has confirmed that Eleni Foureira will represent Cyprus in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. Dubbed the 'Queen of the Greek pop scene,' the singer is one of Greece's most popular pop stars.

Eleni Foureira started her solo career in 2010 with the release of her first album. Her song Chica Bomb, a collaboration with Dan Balan, became a summer hit. In 2014 Eleni appeared at the Mad Video Music Awards alongside J Balvin, singer of hit Tranquila, which is about to surpass 100,000,000 views on YouTube.  

Eleni has won numerous awards over the years and gone on to release several successful albums including her most recent, Vasilissa, which was released in December 2017. 

Eleni's Eurovision song, Fuego, will be released in the coming weeks.  The staging of the entry has been assigned to the internationally acclaimed artistic director and choreographer Sacha Jean-Baptiste, who has extensive experience at the Eurovision Song Contest.  

More than music

In recent years Eleni has released singles in both Greek and English and in 2017 scored a new international hit with the song Send For Me, a collaboration with successful producer and rapper A.M. SNiPE. 

In addition to her musicial career, Eleni has also been a judge on the Greek version of So You Think You Can Dance. She has also toured extensively in the Balkans and worked in the fashion industry. Her performance at the 2014 edition of the MAD Video Music Awards received over 11 million views on YouTube.

The Cypriot entry for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest will be composed by Alex Papaconstantinou, also known as Alex P. He co-wrote Marc Anthony's Grammy Award-winning and Latin Billboard #1 song Vivir Mi Vida, the #1 Billboard Dance/Club song I Like How It Feels by Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez's hit single Live It Up.
