12 July 2019 at 15:43 CEST
NPO, AVROTROS, NOS and the EBU are launching an innovation challenge for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. The organisation is looking for innovative proposals from tech companies worldwide that will enhance the experience for viewers and fans during next year's competition.

The Dutch public broadcasting companies, together with the EBU, are looking for innovation in two areas:

1. Online viewer and fan engagement

Enhancing the online experience of viewers and fans of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest (for instance: data-visualization, applied video-indexation solutions, voice applications).

2. Online production

Supporting or enhancing the production of online content before and during the Eurovision Song Contest (for instance: editorial tools, social media tools).

Who can enlist?

The organisers are welcoming all ideas, but particularly submissions from companies that have proven technology and an established client base. Welcome are new applications of existing technology and joint proposals.

How to take part?

All proposals must be submitted before Monday 19 August from which a selection of promising ideas will be made. If selected, companies are asked to provide more detailed information before 1 September.

From the submissions, 10 companies will be invited to a final event on Friday 27 September in Amsterdam or Hilversum. The companies will then get a chance to present their plans and talk with experts from the parties involved with the organisation of the Eurovision Song Contest.

What can companies win?

From the top 10, a maximum of 3 finalists will be selected to implement their solution for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. Each of the companies can be offered co-funding for development up to € 35.000. And of course, being associated with the Eurovision Song Contest gives worldwide exposure.
