Albina Grčić has won Croatia's national final 'Dora '21' with the song Tick-Tock.

In a live show from Marino Cvetković Sports Hall, Opatija, Albina Grčić gave a sensational performance of her track Tick-Tock, inspiring enough support from the juries and general public to see off 13 unlucky competitors, in another fantastic edition of Dora.

Albina will now represent Croatia in the second half of the first Semi-Final on 18 May 2021 in Rotterdam.

In her first interview after Dora, the champion mused on why Tick-Tock was the right song for the Eurovision Song Contest:

“I think everyone will be singing my song because it’s very catchy and I think that we have the whole package… the song, the dancers, the team. I’m so grateful that I get to perform Tick-Tock and that I have my excellent team behind me - they’ve really boosted me and given me so much support.”

The singer from Split has had a burning passion for performance since she was young; her talent for singing was nurtured by her family who encouraged her to also learn the piano.

The Dora ‘21 champion released her first single Imuna na strah (English: Immune to Fear) towards the end of last year, but says of her winning track Tick-Tock that she knew this would be the song to define her as an artist and performer.

Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Croatia made its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993, sending pop group Put to Ireland with the song Don’t Ever Cry after they qualified from the pre-selection show, Kvalifikacija za Millstreet.

Croatia’s best results came in 1996 and 1999 with 4th placed finishes for Maja Blagdan’s Sveta ljubav and Doris Dragović’s anthem Marija Magdalena - a track that still sends fans hurtling towards the dance floor two decades later.
