Do you have a perfect song for Iceland?
08 October 2014 at 16:32 CESTThe preparations for the biggest music event of the year have begun again in Iceland and the broadcaster RUV is asking for songs to participate in Söngvakeppni 2015, the Icelandic national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest that will be held in February next year.
Under the question "Want to win a million?" the broadcaster encourages everyone to join the contest and also read the rules carefully, including the following:
- The right to submit songs is for Icelandic authors and composers and / or residents domiciled in Iceland from the 1st of September and until the date of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
- These authors of music and lyrics may, however, work in collaboration with others, including those who do not meet the above criteria, so that at least two-thirds of the team and half the text is by Icelandic authors.
- Each composer may submit a maximum of two songs in the contest. The authors of the text, however, may be the author / co-authors of more than two texts.
- All of the songs in Söngvakeppni 2015, must be performed in Icelandic, but the songs that make the finals have to be performed in the language that the author intends to use at the Eurovision Song Contest in Austria.
The deadline for uploading contributions to the contest is Monday 20 October. 11:59.
Iceland has reached the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest every year since 2008 and this year they reached 15th place with the band Pollapönk and No Prejudice:
