Didrik Solli-Tangen and A1 reach Norwegian final

23 January 2010 at 21:58 CET

The third Norwegian semi-final was held today in Skien. After seven excellent performances, a round of televoting and a lot of tension and excitement in the hall,  Didrik Solli-Tangen and group A1 qualified directly to the final of Melodi Grand Prix where they will join Maria Haukaas Storeng, Keep Of Kalessin, Alexander Stenerud and Maria Arredondo in Oslo Spektrum.

Two further acts, Mira Craig and Karoline Garfjell qualified on to the Siste Sjansen round to be held in Sarpsborg on the 30th of January. Here they will compete for two further places at the grand final in Oslo.

This week's semi-final was, like the previous two weeks, star-studded with acts such as Mira Craig (composer of Norway's 2008 entry, Hold On Be Strong), successful British/Norwegian boyband, A1 and up and coming star, Didrik Solli-Tangen.

Details of the contests are as follows (qualifiers in bold):

  • Mira Craig - I'll Take You High
  • Fred Endresen - Barracks On The Hill
  • Belinda Braza - Million Dollar Baby
  • Didrik Solli-Tangen - My Heart Is Yours
  • The Diamond - European Girl
  • Karoline Garfjell - Tokyo Night
  • A1 - Don't Wanna Lose You Again

This year's edition of Melodi Grand Prix has sparked a lot of interest after Norway's record-breaking victory in Moscow last year, where Alexander Rybak took home the trophy with his song, Fairytale.
