Danish songwriter headhunted by Azerbaijan's Nikki

One of the team behind Karen Viuff's song Universe, Boe Larsen has been approached by last year's winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, Nigar Jamal (aka Nikki) to write a total of seven songs for her upcoming album.

It all started when Nikki was the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani jury in Denmark's national final, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, held in Aalborg back in January. It was here she fell in love with Karen Viuff's song Universe, and requested to sing a duet with Karen on the same track.

Whilst organising the duet, Nikki's manager asked Boe Larsen if he would deliver some songs for her new album. "I asked if he meant that I should write, produce or mix them. "Yes, all of it" he replied. Now we have agreed that I will write seven songs for her".

It seems that Azerbaijan's Nikki has a soft spot for the Scandinavian sound and Boe Larsen is incredibly proud of his achievement. Later this month Nikki will visit Denmark where she will, if all goes to plan, record the music video for the duet with Karen Viuff for Universe.

Boe has produced for many big names in the Danish music industry including Søs Fenger, Sanne Solomonsen and Hanne Boel but for him this is something different.

"It's completely unbelievable what Melodi Grand Prix has done for us", says Boe Larsen.

Denmark will be represented by Soluna Samay and the song Should've Known Better at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan in May.
