20 April 2009 at 21:34 CEST

The Cypriot entry was chosen via a televote this time in a fifteen-minute voting window after everyone had performed. Sarbel was the special guest star and he will be performing two of his hit songs. He was the Greek entry for Europe's favorite TV-show back in 2007 in Helsinki with his Yassou Maria.

In the end Christina Metaxa won with Firefly, getting almost twice as much votes as the second place song Bleed 4 U by Pieros Kezeou - a total of 12 309 votes! Watch her winning entry below.

Christina Metaxas is only sixteen years old and comes from Lemesos. The song Firefly was written and composed by her brother Nikolas. Nikolas is twenty years old. Nikolas is a musician and song-writer and came second in last year’s Cypriot national selection final.

Nikolas says: “Christina is shy and sensitive and she often needs an extra push to take risks in her life and pursue her dreams, as all teenagers do. Firefly tries to tackle the insecurities and doubts that people often have and give them a motive to take a ‘leap of faith’.”

As well as writing and composing songs, Christina dances and is involved with her school’s drama and musical productions. She also plans to publish her first book which includes four children’s stories and does art in her spare time.

Cyprus is seventh in the row performing in the second Semi-Final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. You can read more about her here.
