Cyprus: Evdokia Kadi to Belgrade

During a prime-time live show on CyBC, televoters and a jury voted to select the Cypriot entry for the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest. Kadi's entry is being described as an up-tempo song with a Greek-Mediterranean sound and Balkan influences.

Marlain Angelidou won the jury vote, but the strong support from televoters for Evdokia Kadi was enough for her to win the ticket to Belgrade. Angelidou, who finished third tonight, shocked fans by finishin second last at the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest with Tha'nai Erotas, while being tipped for victory in the lead up to the contest.

During the show, last year's Cypriot Eurovision Song Contest representative Evridiki performed several songs, along with Dimitris Korgialas.

First ever national final live stream through esctv

For the first time in history, experimented with the webcast of a national final available through the internet. "It was great to see how much this new service is being welcomed by fans across Europe. Due to connectivity problems between the live stream encoding facilities at Cyprus and our distribution point, some users experienced problems around the end of the show. With this experience, we will continue to improve this service and offer more national finals during the selection season" Sietse Bakker, Project Manager Internet of the Eurovision Song Contest, said.
