Cypriot finalists announced

Many familiar names have returned to the selection as song writers and desire their songs to represent Cyprus in Moscow. The two time Cypriot representative (in 1995 and 2000) Alex Panayi and Marlain Angelides who has represented the country once in 1999 among them.
Besides them, one of the people on stage at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, Tefkros Neokleous and the composer of the performed song, Femme Fatale, Nikos Evangelou also take part this year. The finalists are:
  1. Βleed For You (Written by Pieros Kezou)

  2. I Wanna Thank You (Kor Melian)

  3. I Believe (Katerina Neokleous)

  4. Moving On (Music Yiorgos Sinos, lyrics Christina Georgiou)

  5. Heartbeat (Dionysis Stamatopoulos, Androula Michail)

  6. Firefly (Nikolas Metaxas)

  7. Mr Uptight One Night Stand (Marlain Angelidou)

  8. There Is Love (Alexandros Panayi)

  9. I’m Gonna Break Up With You (Nikos Evangelou, Tefkros Neokleous)

  10. Mary (Tefkros Neokleous)
The performers of the songs have not been revealed tet. An audition for all entries took place on the 13th of December where 7 members of a jury evaluated the entries. None of the songs will be made public before the final show. The date of it has not been announced yet but its said to be held in the end of January. The representative of Cyprus for the 2009 contest in Moscow will be chosen via a televote.
Cyprus did not make it to the Final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest with Evdokia Kadi's Femme Fatale. The singer achieved the 15th place in the second Semi-Final.
