Croatia: Unique competition for fans to remix Daria's "Celebrate"

18 March 2011 at 20:39 CET

When Daria won the Dora 2011 festival, the song was originally performed in the Croatian language and was called Lahor, translated as Mild Wind. As viewers will remember, there was a first English language version of the song quickly prepared specifically for the Dora final which was entitled Break A Leg.

Croatian reasons to Celebrate

In the following days, when the decision was reached by the winning team and Croatian broadcaster HRT to sing in English in the Eurovision Song Contest, new lyrics were written and hence, Celebrate was born. The thought behind the new title was that spring is on the way, and Croatia is expected to join the European Union in June this year, so Celebrate indeed seemed the perfect title from a Croatian perspective.

Have your own remix of Celebrate on Daria's CD single!

In a very original and innovative idea, the composer of Celebrate, Boris Djordjević together with Klik magazine in Croatia, have launched a competition which is open to anybody to compose the best remix possible of Daria's song, with the winning composition guaranteed to be a track on the official CD single of Celebrate. The brainchild of Boris and Klik is entitled Eurosong Remix Contest. Entrants have until 15th April to submit their remixes before the winner is chosen and a lot of interest is expected in the compeititon.

Busy schedule ahead for Daria

Daria is presently very busy giving many interviews, and embarking upon promotional tours ahead of her arrival in Germany in May. The promotional tour provisionally looks like Daria visiting Bosnia & Herzegovina, Malta, Slovenia, Austria and Amsterdam.

The backing vocalists for the Eurovision Song Contest have been chosen and they all hail from the seaside port of Rijeka. Rehearsals will get underway soon as well as the choice of costumes and stage choreography in order to make the best possible presentation of the entry in Düsseldorf. Daria speaks Croatian and German natively and is also fluent in English and French so will have no problems conversing with the world's media in May.

Croatia will sing in position 13 in the First Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on Tuesday 10th May.
