Croatia make public call for 2010 entries

A public call has been made by Croatian broadcaster HRT for the submission of songs to participate in Dora 2010, the 18th national selection of Croatia for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010.

Sixteen Songs Will Compete

The song submission deadline is 15th December 2009. From the entries submitted, a professional jury will choose the 16 which will made up a shortlist for the semi-final show. The top eight songs from the semi-final, which will be selected by televoting viewers, will progress to the final. In the Final these eight songs will compete with a further eight songs.

These eight automatic finalists will be the result of an invitation by HRT to the authors of the most performed songs of 2009 according to the official report of Croatian Composers' Society.  This will result in a total of 16 songs competing for the right to represent Croatia in Europe's Favourite TV Show in the final of Dora 2010.The number of invited songs has this year been reduced from ten down to eight.

Dates for 2010 Dora

The semi-final and final show of Dora 2010 will be held on the 5th and the 6th of March respectively at the Crystal Hall of the Kvarner Hotel in Opatija.  As in previous years, two editions of  a Dora Countdown show will be produced in the lead up to the 2-day Dora Festival. The two studio shows entitled Ususret Dori will feature the 16 songs and artists participating in the semi-final, and these preview shows are scheduled to be televised on 11th and 12th of February on HRT 1.  The semi-final and final shows will also be broadcast live on the internet.

HRT have also said they are happy to announce that there will be a new visual and graphic design for Dora 2010 as well as a newly designed website currently being prepared for launch in December.

Croatia qualified for the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, where Igor Cukrov and Andrea finished in 18th place with the song Lijepa Tena.
