07 August 2016 at 15:00 CEST
The winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, Conchita Wurst, joined fellow Eurovision artists at the closing ceremony of EuroPride 2016. Conchita, a vocal advocate of LGBT rights, is one of the event's key ambassadors.

For the 23rd time people from all over Europe came together for EuroPride, the pan-European international event dedicated to LGBT pride. EuroPride 2016 was hosted in conjunction with Amsterdam Gay Pride.

Conchita, the bearded-lady act performed by Thomas Neuwirth, was one of the most talked about Eurovision Song Contest winners in recent years. At the end of 2014 Google declared that Conchita was one of the top-10 most searched for stories in its search engine. As a result, Conchita appeared on one of the largest billboards in the world on New York's Times Square.

Ever since her Eurovision victory with Rise Like A Phoenix, Conchita has been a vocal advocate for LGBT rights and a frequent visitor to pride events all over Europe and beyond. It earned her the respect of U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, world famous artists like Lady Gaga and many others.

Other former Eurovision Song Contest participants who performed during the closing ceremony of EuroPride 2016 included Belgian singer Kate Ryan (2006), Dutch acts Ronnie Tober (1968), Ben Cramer (1973), Sandra Reemer (1972, 1976 and 1979), Justine Pelmelay (1989) and Spain's Barei (2016). Prior to the party Conchita took time out to enjoy the sunshine in Amsterdam with a glass of wine. Cheers!
