Bulgarian candidate songs revealed

The three songs selected by BNT from the five offered by Elitsa & Stoyan have been officially presented on the Nedelya x 3 show. The main advantage of the songs is that they greatly differ in energy and have an unconventional sound and emotion. The order of appearance was determined by a draw, and different guest performers feature in the songs.

A song for Bulgaria

These are the three songs in contention:

Dzupai, Libe Boso feat. Skiller & Jahmmi

Written by Elitsa Todorova and Tsvetelin Grudaiski, Dzupaj, Libe Boso is dynamic and joyful, hinting at the national folklore depths with the canto of Elitsa Todorova. The masterly beat-box methods of the world champion Alexander Deyanov – Skiller, are mixed with the rhythm of Stoyan's percussion, creating a unique “distinctive colour” for the song.

Composed by Elitsa Todorova and Bistrishkite Babi, Kismet is a contemporary song in the chillout style, and is presented by Stoyan and Elitsa with the ethnic elements typical for the duo. The mix between the two radically different elements makes it notable and features the authentic folklore vocal skills of Petio Kostadinov.

Samo Shampioni

Written by Elitsa Todorova and Kristian Talev, the third song Samo Shampioni, is a striking and rhythmic song carrying an explosive emotional charge. Together in this song are Stoyan's perfect drum arrangement, the typical melody of Bulgarian bagpipes by Petio Kostadinov and an impressive vocal by Elitsa.

National final on the 3rd of March

Subsequent to this, videos of the songs will be broadcast repeatedly over the next two weeks on BNT and various radio stations. The songs will then be performed live in a broadcast on the 3rd of March 2013 where viewers and a special jury will be able to vote for their favourite.

Voting will be carried out by SMS and telephone. The jury that will be part of this selection process will be, as in the Eurovision Song Contest, made up of five people. The viewers and jury will each have 50% of the vote.

Elitsa & Stoyan represented Bulgaria at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki where they reached 5th place with Voda/Water, the best ever result for Bulgaria at the competition. Bulgaria will be taking part in the second Semi-Final of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden on the 16th of May.
