18 contestants will compete in the two semi-finals, of which nine come from the quarter-finals. The other half of the contestants will be picked by a jury. After the semi-finals, viewers will pick Bulgaria's act for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in a national final.
After three quarter-finals, their respective winners will compete for a semi-final ticket.
- Iskra & Misha Iliev - Dokosni Me
- Prima Vista - Let's Spread Love
- Konkurent - Placha V Noshtta
- Mario Marinov - La Ragazza Che Ho Lasciato
- Tereza Kolarova - Samo Edno More
For unknown reasons, and despite a higher number of votes for the group Prima Vista, Mario Marinov qualified for the next round. BNT confirmed earlier today that after discovering a mistake in the vote count, Prima Vista instead of Mario Marinov qualified. Marinov can still qualify through the next stage of the selection process.
