Bosnia & Herzegovina: Orchestral ballad presented by Maya Sar

In the intimate setting of the Hotel Europe in Sarajevo tonight, talented singer/songwriter Maya Sar presented Bosnia & Herzegovina's Eurovision Song Contest entry Korake ti znam to the world. It was also broadcasted right here on Eurovision.tv.

The song was arranged by Maya's husband Mahir Sarihodžić and Italian maestro Adriano Pennino, who amongst other things is famous for being a producer of the much revered San Remo festival in Italy.

Korake ti znam (or I Know Your Steps as it is translated into English), is a beautiful orchestral ballad; very visual in nature and yet not overpowering. Maya has a very pure voice and sings the song perfectly, which puts her in good stead for the big stage at Baku Crystal Hall on the 24th of May, where she will perform in the second Semi-Final.

A Spectacular Show

The director Ahmed Imamovic designed the entire visual presentation of tonight's show. According to BHRT, "the desire of the director and BHRT was that the audience look back to romantic times such as when Vienna cafés were in vogue".

In attendance at the show were close family and friends of Maya as well as friends of the Eurovision Song Contest. A number of special guests also appeared on the show including an opening performance by Maya with Sabahudin-Baho Kurt, together singing What A Wonderful World and Djevojko mala. 

Other guests included 2007 representative Marija Šestić who performed Samo jednom se ljubi and Deen who represented Bosnia & Herzegovina in 2004. He performed Fly me to the Moon tonight.

In addition to Korake ti znam, Maya sang Kraj potoka bistre vode in a more traditional Bosnian style, showing her versatility as an artist.

After presenting Korake ti znam, the official video was shown for the first time, filmed on location in Kakanj and Počitelj.

Un Maestro Italiano

During the last few weeks Maya and her team have been working very hard to make Korake ti znam as perfect as possible by enlisting the help of maestro Adriano Pennino who has been one of the leading producers of the San Remo competition in Italy for years.

Together with the Roma Sinfonietta orchestra, Maya recorded Korake ti znam at Pennino's studios in Rome. It is worth noting that the orchestra regularly collaborates with Oscar winner Ennio Morricone and singers including Quincey Jones, Roger Waters and Michael Bolton.

Who Is Maya Sar?

Maya Sar is a songwriter, composer and singer which works with the biggest names from the Balkan region. For many years she has been a band member for Dino Merlin with whom she performed at the 56th Eurovision Song Contest in Germany.



She is the founder of the regional humanitarian project in the fight against cervical cancer Moj je život moja pjesma (My Life Is My Song) and the composer and songwriter of the eponymous song. For this, she received the Gold plaque of the great human heart by the International League of Humanists (Dr. Elisabeth Rehn)



With the first self-composed single Nespretno (Awkwardly) Maya Sar achieved remarkable success. She composes for other artists in the family studio Long Play with her husband and producer Mahir Sarihodžić and she is also finishing her first solo album.
