Just days after Belgium scored its best placing since 2003, broadcaster VRT has announced initial plans for its national selection for 2016.

Belgian entries for the Eurovision Song Contest are organised on a rotational basis, where one year Flemish broadcaster VRT is responsible followed by Francophone broadcaster RTBF the next. As RTBF organised this year's successful participation by Loïc Nottet, VRT have the honour of finding a successor for next year's contest in Sweden.

Although only a small amount of information has been released, VRT has confirmed that it would like to host a public selection centring around 5 acts in 2016. This is in contrast to RTBF who decided to choose its entry internally this year. If you are interesting in submitting an entry for next year's selection, you can apply by email: [email protected]. Further details will be released in due course.

2014 was the last time VRT organised the Belgian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, which centred around a large national selection which was won by Axel Hirsoux who then failed to qualify to the Grand Final in Copenhagen.

This year Loïc Nottet came 4th in the Grand Final with the song Rhythm Inside.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place in Sweden on the 10th, 12th and 14th of May next year.
