Closing not only today's rehearsals, but the entire first round of rehearsals, was Azerbaijan. In his performance, Chingiz sings alone from the centre of the stage surrounded by truly technological staging, including some robots and impressive backdrop images that help them convey the message of the song 'Truth' together.

Chingiz will take to the stage 18th in the second Semi-Final on Thursday 16 May at Expo Tel Aviv in Israel.

Chingiz was born in Moscow and moved to Azerbaijan when he was 6 years old. He was invited to audition for the Azerbaijani version of Pop Idol. He won the competition thanks to tremendous support from the jury and viewers of the show. His victory turned him into a rising star in the Azerbaijani music industry and, by 2013, he was already representing the country internationally at the New Wave festival in Jūrmala, Latvia, and took part in The Voice Ukraine.

What happens on stage?

Chingiz revealed the staging himself before his rehearsal: “I love my staging, it's absolutely cool! Obviously, the inspiration behind it is my song, Truth. The idea is that my heart is broken and I need to replace it with a bionic one. Some robot helps me literally get rid of it and forget about my ex. I realize that only accepting the truth and leaving my toxic love behind can heal me.” The stage director for 'Truth' is Mads Enggaard, an experienced Eurovision professional who previously served as Eurovision 2017 viewing room producer and 2019 Danish Melodi Grand Prix contest producer.
