News from the BBC this year has been unusually quiet regarding this year's representative in Europe's Favourite Tv Show, but it has been widely anticipated that it would follow a similar format to that used last year, of commissioning an established act and a song.
In 2011, that turned out to be the group Blue, with the song I Can, that reached a respectable 11th place in last year's Final.
At the moment there has been no official announcement from the BBC as to who they would select as this year's entrants, but with deadlines rapidly approaching, there has been a lot of speculation amongst fans as to who it would be for 2012.
Only last week, the BBC reopened their Eurovision page on Facebook, and revealed that it wouldn't be too long before the artist(s) would be made public.
However, today the tabloid newspaper, The Daily Star Sunday, has claimed that it will be the girl group Atomic Kitten that will fly the flag in Baku.
The three girl group currently comprises, Liz McClarnon, Natasha Hamilton and Jenny Frost. Both Frost and McClarnon have previous experience in the contest.
Frost was a member of the group Precious, that represented the United Kingdom in the 1999 contest in Jerusalem, and finished it 12th place with Say It Again.
McClarnon entered as a soloist in the United Kingdom national selection contest in 2007, but failed to qualify for the last two in the Final, with the song (Don't It Make You) Happy.
The group has had several changes in personnel over the years since they were first launched in 1997, Amongst their hits are Whole Again, Eternal Flame, The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling), If You Come To Me. They have also had two UK number one albums, Right Now and Feels So Good.
According to the newspaper report an insider stated 'Atomic Kitten are the perfect act to send to Baku. They were picked because the BBC think they've got what it takes'.
Though group member Jenny Frost has said on Twitter 'Happy Sunday guys-Woke up to hear that apparently AK are doing Eurovision-first I've heard!!'
