Armenia to host Junior Eurovision in 2011
18 January 2011 at 14:37 CETDespite Armenia's victory at the last contest in Minsk, Belarus, it was not at all sure if the nation would get the honor of hosting the competition. Traditionally, the Host Broadcaster of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is being appointed through a bid procedure.
AMPTV plans to hold the contest at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan, which was recently renovated.
"Together with AMPTV, we are eager to put together the coolest Junior Eurovision Song Contest that Europe has seen so far. The event is extremely popular in Armenia and their strong bid gave us the confidence they will be capable to put together a great show," says Sietse Bakker, Supervisor of the contest on behalf of the EBU.
The preliminary date for the 2011 Junior Eurovision Song Contest is Saturday, 3rd of December.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest was established in 2003. In 2010, the contest was broadcast live from Minsk, Belarus, where young talents between 10 and 15 from 14 nations showed their skills. The contest was aired in Australia as well. For more information, visit www.junioreurovision.tv.
