A special conference in London will explore the social, political and cultural influences of the world’s biggest entertainment show - and YOU can take part!
From 11:00 CET on Friday the Eurovision Song Contest: 60th Anniversary Conference will be streamed LIVE right here on Eurovision.tv.
Nearly 200 academics, journalists, media professionals and fans are gathering to mark the Contest’s 60th anniversary.
You can join them online and interact with the panelists and speakers on Twitter @EBU_HQ and @Eurovision using the hashtag #Eurovision60.
Some of the topics being discussed include how the song contest has provided a platform for the creation of national and European identities, how the event has embraced and celebrated diversity by showcasing minority communities and how it has been used as nation branding tool by countries such as Estonia and Ukraine. The conference will also explore the role the contest has had in advancing development in satellite and TV technology.
The reigning Eurovision Song Contest champion Conchita Wurst will be discussing her year in the spotlight and answering your questions via Twitter from 16:15 CET.
Also speaking at the event will be Dave Benton who won for Estonia (the very first Ex-Soviet country to do so) as well as the Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand, Event Supervisor Sietse Bakker and Austria's commentator Andi Knoll.
Join us from 11:00 CET on Friday to discover more about the power and impact of Europe's favourite TV show. See you then!
