This afternoon's rehearsals kicked off with Moldova's Anna Odobescu and her song 'Stay'. Standing centred on the stage, the minimal movement in her performance serves to highlight the compelling lyrics and masterful sand art that accompanies the singer.

Anna Odobescu will perform 3rd for Moldova in the second Semi-Final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest on Thursday 16 May at Expo Tel Aviv in Israel.

Anna was born on 3 November 1991 in Dubasari, Moldova. Her vocal and artistic talent emerged in her early childhood. Anna graduated from the faculty of pop jazz vocal and performed with the Jazz Orchestra Victor Zelenskiy before she became a vocal coach. Anna has taken part in various musical competitions and won many national and international awards. Anna says she finds peace and inner silence in music.

What happens on stage?

Anna delivers the powerful love story in a long, white gown. She is joined on stage by a sand artist wearing a contrasting, long dark gown. The sand art behind the singer depicts a range of wild animals and natural settings which tells a story of a person on a journey. The song ends with an image of a galaxy with a rose placed on top. The official music video, by contrast, depicts an emotional and dramatic love story, a fight between two people in love that hints at a reunion in the end. While different, both certainly hit on the emotion of the song.
