Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil win in Ukraine
04 February 2024 at 18:57 CETThe show was broadcast live on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel, but due to technical difficulties the results were revealed live the following evening.
The duo topped the public vote and narrowly beat Ziferblat (who won the overall jury vote) and returning Eurovision Song Contest participant Mélovin.
Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil say that Teresa & Maria is a song about women who carry a titanic weight on their shoulders:
'On behalf of women, we are talking about the importance of unity for significant actions and victories. And even though we, as Ukrainians, wrote this song about Ukraine, everyone can recognise themselves in the lyrics. We're talking about unification because that's what creates synergy and brings much more results.'
The evening was presided over by one of the hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, Julia Sanina, one of the hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, Timur Miroshnychenko, and the stand-up comedian Vasyl Baidak.
