Alexander Rybak to perform in Norwegian final
09 February 2012 at 14:14 CETOn Saturday the final of Melodi Grand Prix 2012 will take place in Oslo, where Norway will finally choose its entry after three exciting Semi-Finals in Ørland, Larvik and Florø.
Traditionally the previous year's winner, which in this case is Stella Mwangi, would perform during the interval act. However, last week Stella Mwangi's father Jeff Mwangi Kwirikia tragically lost his life and quite understandably Stella is unable to perform.
This left quite a big gap in the show for NRK to fill and as luck would have it one of the most sought after acts in Europe and winner of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest for Norway, Alexander Rybak, has agreed to step in and perform. In addition to this a secret performance by all of this year's participants is also being planned.
Last year the interval act was hugely popular when 2010 entrant Didrik Solli-Tangen performed a very moving and atmospheric rendition of his song My Heart Is Yours together with the gay men's choir Oslo Fagottkor. Watch the video below!
Eurovision.tv will be in place at the Oslo Spektrum Arena on Saturday to bring you all the latest and best coverage of Melodi Grand Prix 2012 so stay tuned!
