Festivali i Këngës, the most prestigious Albanian music competition, has taken place every year since 1962. Since the country's first participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2004, the festival has also served as the national selection for Europe's Favourite TV Show. Now the preparations for the next edition have officially kicked off.

Albanian public broadcaster RTSH has issued an open call for songs for the 54th Festivali i Këngës. Singers and songwriters can submit their entries at Radio Tirana on September 29th and 30th. After that, a jury will pick the acts to take part in this year's edition of Albania's most long standing music competition.

Further information on the semi-finals and final shows of Festivali i Këngës, which have usually been broadcast live in the second half of December, as well as on Albania's participation in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
