Oh Mammadova! Aisel to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision in 2018.

It has been confirmed that Aisel Mammadova will represent Azerbaijan in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. İctimai Television opted for an internal selection once again and Aisel's song for Lisbon will be unveiled at a later date.

Aisel was born into a musical family in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1989. The singer studied at a musical secondary school and in 2010 she graduated from Azerbaijan's State Conservatory. 

Over the years Aisel has participated in several musical festivals including the Caspian Jazz & Blues Festival (2002), the Baku International Jazz festival (2005/2006), the MuzEnergo Festival of Music Improvisation (2007), the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2009 and the Caucasus Jazz Festival in 2012.

Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest

Azerbaijan made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 and got off to a strong start, finishing in the top five every year between 2009 and 2013. Azerbaijan finished third in 2009, won the contest in 2011 and 2012 host the competition in Baku. The country also finished second in 2013. 

Dihaj represented Azerbaijan in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Skeletons.  Azerbaijan has never missed out on a place in the Grand Final in over a decade of participating in Eurovision.
