After the Final: Emotional scenes among artists backstage

16 May 2011 at 03:50 CEST

Eurovision.tv got a talk with as many of the artists as we could backstage, right after the show, and before they finally left the Eurovision Song Contest.

The comments follow in the order of the result of the Final:

1. Azerbaijan: Ell/Nikki
Stylist Emir Kapetanovic: "This was totally insane! I'm Swedish, with my roots in Bosnia & Herzegovina, and I'm working with Azerbaijan. All those three were in the top section of the scoreboard, and as soon as someone of those got points, I screamed backstage. The Azeri performance was so beautiful and clean, I give much credit to the Swedish director and choreographer Rennie Mirro."

2. Italy: Raphael Gualazzi

3. Sweden: Eric Saade
"We're insanely happy to have been the ones to take Sweden back to the top of this contest! This will bring Sweden's artist next year a great momentum."

Backing singer Joel Börjesson: "This was amazing, incredibly exciting voting. This was Sweden's best position in twelve years!"

4. Ukraine: Mika Newton
"I am really good. But it's so difficult to wait for forty-three countries. The fourth place is a good place for our country, it's good to be in the top five. When standing on stage, it was like a celebration, so fantastic, and so much emotion!"

5. Denmark: A Friend In London
Lead singer Tim Schou: "This was the most amazing night! And the worst part about it is that I screwed up. I told everyone in Europe: 'I wanna f**k you!' When the camera came and we got the first points I was so excited. I apologise, Europe! I apologise! We got the fifth place, baby!"

6. Bosnia & Herzegovina: Dino Merlin

7. Greece: Loucas Yiorkas feat. Stereo Mike
Loucas Yiorkas: "This is a competition, and someone has to have the first place. We're very happy to be in the seventh place, seventh out of forty-three countries is great. This was a battle we gave alone because of the tough times that Greece has, and we are very happy to give the people back home something."

8. Ireland: Jedward
"We had an awesome time here at the Eurovision Song Contest, it's been so cool! And it's really cool that you guys know who we are now, everyone's talking about us! We love talking you guys at Eurovision.tv. We have so much stuff coming up, we're going on tour all across Europe, and we have exclusive news coming out soon that we can't wait for you guys to know. We've got a brand new album, which is really cool. We were really really happy with what we did on stage here, we had so much fun!"

9. Georgia: Eldrine
Lead singer Sophio Toroshelidze: "We feel really great! I'm so happy we were in the top ten. I'm amazed that we managed that. Our main goal was just to enjoy and show people who we are. I'm so happy I was here. And congratulations to Azerbaijan! Now, we're gonna work a lot on our album, and we're gonna have tours around Europe."

10. Germany: Lena

11. United Kingdom: Blue
Group member Simon Webbe: "It was a great night. The best song won, I think it was deserved. The viewers decided. When we'll come home, we'll wake up, make album, carrying on, do what we do. Get back up again."

12. Moldova: Zdob și Zdub
"We're very fine. The result was a little bit unfair, but it's okay. Our result was fine, since we're a very small country. The most important thing is to show everyone that we exist. So next time, we'll go to Azerbaijan."

13. Slovenia: Maja Keuc
"I'm smiling! I enjoyed the night very well. I was actually afraid, since I lost my voice on the day of the performance. All day I was quiet. I don't know why it happened, I just had too much of everything. But I gave it my best and was very satistfied with my performance. I'm very happy just that I did it! I don't care much about points. I will take a break for one week now when I come home. Then of course I will do performances and work with my album, and so on."

14. Serbia: Nina
"It was very exciting today, and the Azerbaijani song is great, so I'm very happy. I think I was better than in the Semi-Final, so I gave it the best that I could, and I'm satisfied with myself. Now, I'm going home, finally. We'll see what happens afterwards, this has been so huge."

15. France: Amaury Vassili
"I'm very fine. I was very happy with my performance. Maybe another time, we'll see!"

16. Russia: Alexej Vorobjov
"I'm okay, we did what we had to do."

Producer and songwriter RedOne: "This was an amazing night, a great experience. The voting is one thing, I was more into getting the exposure of Alexej. Now, we're moving on! You can't always win. You have to realise how big it is to just participate here."

17. Romania: Hotel FM
Lead singer David Bryan: "I'm very disappointed in England. I expected a few points from the UK, but I didn't get a single one. I'm going to perform in Romania instead in the future."

18. Austria: Nadine Beiler
"It was so great on stage, very great!"

19. Lithuania: Evelina Sašenko

20. Iceland: Sjonni's Friends
Group member Pálmi Sigurhjartarson: "The night was incredible. I felt that our performance this time was the best. We were so happy to be here and perform this song to Europe. We have so much talent in this group, so we will continue together now, no question about it."

21. Finland: Paradise Oskar
"It was a nice evening. Good to be on stage, and with a nice audience. I'm one of those who insist that there's no way to compete in music. This has been a very merry festival to me with plenty of music. The competition feels a bit unnecessary, but it's a bit fun for the excitement. In the upcoming time, I will try to get people interested in my newly released album."

22. Hungary: Kati Wolf
"I expected more. But that's the game. I think the song is very good, and I'm satisfied with the performance. When I get home, I'll go to my children. It was amazing to be in the Eurovision Song Contest, with the arena and all the people here."

23. Spain: Lucía Pérez

24. Estonia: Getter Jaani
"I'm good, it was a very good evening, and I think we did a very good job. My album just came out, and now, I will go on tour in Estonia."

25. Switzerland: Anna Rossinelli
