29-year-old singer Adam Pavlovčin - who goes by the stage name of ADONXS - becomes the latest artist to represent Czechia at Eurovision, and indeed the third name to be confirmed for Basel 2025.

"Uncompromising, cheeky, sometimes cinematic and with room for dancing."

This is how ADONXS describes the song with which he will compete for the Eurovision trophy in Basel next May, as he reveals:

"I have visualised this moment to a large extent and for the last year I have mainly focused on creating new songs, also with the ambition of Eurovision. I applied with several songs, and I am happy that one of them was ultimately successful. I can't wait to be able to share the song with you."

ADONXS first rose to fame as the winner of SuperStar Czech-Slovakia (the Czech-Slovak iteration of the Idol franchise) in 2021. Since then, the artist has released a string of singles, as well as 2022's debut album Age of ADONXS.

The 'age of ADONXS' now extends to 2025, as the singer, who resides in Prague, strides into the next chapter of his career - representing Czechia on the world's biggest music stage.

It's an honour that's always been at the heart of ADONX's ambitions as an artist:

"First of all, I am really happy; participating in Eurovision has always been my big dream. At the same time, I feel a great responsibility to represent a country that has a great recent history in the competition, and which is my home."

ADONXS grew up listening to music legends such as Queen, Depeche Mode, Elton John and Prince, and has cited Troye Sivan, Mahmood, AURORA, Josef Salvat, Sufjan Stevens, RAYE and Conan Gray as some of his current influences.

In 2022, the artist won 'Singer of the Year' and 'Musical Discovery' courtesy of Czech radio station Evropa 2.

The internal selection of the song that would represent Czechia at Basel went through several phases in the second half of 2024, as Czechia's Head of Media, Michal Utíkal, explains:

“The candidates were first decided by a 10-member international jury consisting of 5 professionals from the field of music production and music composers, plus 5 former foreign representatives of Eurovision. The next part was quantitative research with more than 900 respondents from three foreign countries. To ratify the voting result, we conducted another research through a focus group. And ADONXS was the clear winner in all aspects.”

International PR and Comms Manager for Czechia at Eurovision, Ahmad Halloun, expands on the positive feelings about the result of the internal selection:

“We are all pleased that ADONXS came out as the winner. Eurovision has been his dream, and you could see it from our very first meetings – he was one step ahead and ready to work. Now we are all gearing up to deliver the best result for Czechia in the Contest.”

In another announcement for Wednesday 10 December, Czechia's national broadcaster ČT revealed that the broadcasts of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest will be moving to their main channel, ČT 1.

ADNOXS' song for Czechia is set to be released at a later date.
