Paula Seling and Ovi, the pair who “played with fire” on the Eurovision Song Contest stage in Oslo in 2010 have accepted broadcaster TVR’s invitation to be part of this year's Romanian national selection, as hosts of the two semifinals and of the final show. They will take on the role of two of the members of the world famous Swedish band ABBA, who incidentally won Europe's favourite TV show back in 1974 with Waterloo. The band will be completed by Andreea Bănică, a popular Romanian singer, and Marius Rizea, a talented actor and comedian.
An international array of songs
A total of 148 songs were submitted to the organisers by both Romanian composers and songwriters from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Israel, Sweden and France, who either entered songs on their own or in collaboration with Romanian composers or singers.
The preselection phase has already begun with the songs being performed live by the artists in front of a professional jury. This is taking place in five different cities in Romania: Iaşi, Cluj, Timişoara, Craiova and Bucharest, and will continue until the 14th of February.
Romania will participate in the second Semi-Final of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest being in held in Malmö, Sweden on the 16th of May.
