A Russian superstar enters the stage

12 May 2015 at 15:39 CEST
Polina Gagarina is one of the shining stars of the Russian show business: singer, actress, songwriter - that's just a few of the versatile roles she has been playing. Today it is time for her to rehearse her anthemic song A Million Voices for the first time on the stage of the Wiener Stadthalle. And she really surprised everyone with her very special dress - check out our live coverage!

There have been at least two world-famous people carrying the name of "Gagarin" - the first one was Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, and the second one is taking part in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest for Russia: Polina Gagarina. Today she has her first rehearsal in Vienna.

In the beginning of Polina's rehearsal, spotlights are centered on her. The steles surrounding the stage create circling effects, while the background LEDs are kept dark, showing first a look out to the universe, then changing to a view of Earth from space in the end of the performance.

Before going on stage, Polina Gagarina for the first time showed the stage costume that she will wear on the Semi-Final night. It's a very classy - and very long - white dress created by famous designer Alexander Terekhov. We were really amazed how she navigated the narrow corridors at the backstage area with it. Isn't she afraid to step on it? "I have so many people in my team to help me with it, so I am very relaxed", she said.

Polina has a 7-year-old son, Andrei. Today he was not with her at the Wiener Stadthalle. "He will come here next week to join me", she revealed.
