A record 692 songs submitted in Denmark

25 September 2012 at 15:02 CEST

In 2009, a record of 684 songs were sent in to DR where in the end Brinck won the right to represent his country in Moscow with Believe Again. Last year 678 songs were sent in, almost hitting this record but for the 2013 edition of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, an even more impressive and record breaking 692 songs have been received by Danish broadcaster, DR including some famous names.

In May next year Europe's favourite TV show will take place just over the bridge in Malmö, where the Danes are hoping to improve on their rather disappointing result in Baku this year. Despite making it to the final, Soluna Samay could only muster up enough support with the juries and televoters to come 23rd out of 26 songs with just 21 points.

This was in contrast to previous years where Denmark had faired somewhat better. They came 13th, 4th and 5th in 2009, 2010 and 2011 respectively!

Brinck is back!

What will these 692 songs include? Well, one face we already recognise is Brinck as mentioned above. He has submitted a song he thinks can win in Malmö!

However, his song like all the others must first go through a rigorous selection process where a secret jury will pick out the songs that will participate in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix early next year.

We'll be back with more news on this in the near future as DR have told us that a host city and date will be announced during October... So stay tuned!
