With the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 taking place in Liverpool, it’s the perfect time to spend two days here and visit this beautiful city, while also enjoying some traditional British food. From Concert Square to famous locations tied to the Beatles, here’s the best of Liverpool to be enjoyed over two days.

Day 1: Lovelocks Coffee Shop

Start your first day with a nice breakfast at a cute little café in the centre of Liverpool. With a varied menu that can accommodate all dietary requirements, Lovelocks Coffee Shop is a lovely place to start planning your day and to get an energy boost before you start exploring.

Penny Lane

You can’t be in Liverpool and not visit iconic Beatles destinations. Some of the most famous songs of Ringo, George, John and Paul were inspired by Liverpool and Penny Lane is the best example. This quaint small street still exists to this day, offering visitors the chance to walk along it and see how it inspired the eponymous song of the Beatles.

Tate Liverpool

Tate Liverpool is one of four galleries in the UK. It’s full of modern art and think-pieces, which will be a very interesting visit for any art enthusiast. Explore the museum by yourself or rent an audio guide and let yourself be lost around the gallery.

Palm House and Sefton Park

After enjoying some modern art, take a stroll through Sefton Park and breathe some fresh air in the middle of Liverpool. Once in the park, you can also admire Palm House and visit its botanical collections – we’d highly recommend participating in some of the events organised here.

Berry and Rye

Towards the end of day, it’s time to grab a snack and a drink at Berry and Rye. As a very cosy establishment, it’s a great place to cool down and rest after a day of visiting beautiful sights. After recharging your batteries, you can get ready to explore the nightlife of Liverpool.

Concert Square

The Liverpudlian nightlife is famous throughout the region, so don’t miss out on seeing how the locals unwind at the end of the day at the Concert Square. A place full of bars and clubs, it has something for everyone and it’s the perfect spot to end your first day in the city.

Day 2: The Cosy Club

Start your second day in Liverpool with a delicious brunch at the Cosy Club. In a great central location, this nice café is the perfect location for any meal and a lovely place to prepare for the upcoming day of visiting around the city.

Strawberry Fields

Strawberry Fields was initially an orphanage and inspired John Lennon to write the eponymous song for the Beatles. Now, you can go to the visitor centre, walk around the gardens and visit the café and shop. If you’re an avid Beatles fan, you can find a lot of interesting exhibitions and museums around the city.

The Beatles Story Exhibition/Museum

Continuing the musical experience around Liverpool, you can’t miss the Beatles Story. From costumes to instruments, collectible posters and a deep-dive inside the band that changed Rock and Roll music forever, the exhibition is unforgettable.

Yanni’s Fish & Chips

Take a break for lunch and taste some traditional English food at Yanni’s Fish & Chips. Right in the city centre, this small restaurant has both outdoor and indoor tables, so you can choose where to relax and enjoy a great meal before continuing your journey around Liverpool.

Museum of Liverpool

If you’re an architecture and history enthusiast, make sure to visit the Museum of Liverpool. Learn how this beautiful city became a cradle of trade and construction, as well as how the whole region of North West developed and grew to the size it is now.

The Cavern Club

While you’re in the neighbourhood, be sure to drop by The Cavern Club, the famous bar where the Beatles first performed. Of course we can’t talk about the history of Liverpool without talking about the Beatles.

You can’t end your trip in Liverpool without visiting an Irish bar and enjoying some live music. Experience the cheerful atmosphere of Shenanigans and get to mingle with the locals as you grab some finger food and cheer with strangers in this lively establishment.
